UMBC Bookstore - OTC Store
To Whom It May Concern:
I have recently become aware of the fact that some of your newspaper prices in the OTC store are more expensive than the recommended prices. For instance, the Washington Times is advertised as $0.50 plus tax with a recommended price of $0.25. The Washington Post is advertised as $0.75 plus tax with a recommended price of $0.35.
Being a
university convenience store, I find it surprising that you do not sell the
newspapers at their recommended price. I
notice that you offer competitive prices on things such as soda and candy – why
not newspapers? Just as your high price
on cigarettes discourages smoking, so does your high price on newspapers
discourage reading. I implore you to change
the price of all newspapers to their recommended price.
Sincerely,
Stuart Matthews
